Good Works: Innovation that Inspires

When you find a product that not only does good for your skin, but also helps those in need, it’s a no-brainer to add to your beauty bag. Exhibit A: Clark’s Botanicals skincare. In 2002, company founder Francesco Clark suffered a crippling spinal cord injury in a pool-diving accident that left his central nervous system impaired. He not only lost the ability to walk but also to feel and even to sweat, which led to clogged pores and chronic breakouts. When neither over-the-counter nor prescriptive remedies worked, Francesco turned to his father, Dr. Harold Clark, a physician trained in both traditional Western medicine and homeopathy. Together they developed botanical products that effectively rebalance skin with the help of Jasmine Absolute, a precious essential oil derived from nocturnally blooming flowers. “Clark’s Botanicals is an organic part of me and my recovery,” Francesco says, “everything about this line has a purpose and reason for being.”

Francesco now serves as National Ambassador for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, and gives a percentage of profits from the sale of Clark’s Botanicals products to the organization. Innovation has never been so beautiful—or meaningful.
