Good Works: Lush is Made to Give

You know that old adage about not judging a book by its cover? Well, when it comes to beauty—and the piles of product that land in our collective laps every month—sometimes cool packaging makes all the difference. We recently stumbled upon the Charity Pot by LUSH cosmetics and although we became instantly obsessed with the hand and body lotion’s delicate floral scent of ylang-ylang and rosewood oils in a hydrating cocoa butter base, it was the distinctive stickers on the lids that really made us take notice. Each depicts a different grassroots organization of the more than 850 that benefit from 100 percent of this product’s purchase-price proceeds. Since the Charity Pot’s launch in 2007, LUSH has donated more than $10,000,000 to small humanitarian, environmental, and animal rights charities locally and around the globe. The Charity Pot has also been reformulated to contain seven ingredients from LUSH’s FUNd  projects, where 2 percent of the amount the brand spends on raw materials and packaging for its FUN multipurpose soap is used to invest in sustainable farming and community projects from scratch. Doing good for your skin and the world feels pretty great, doesn’t it?
