Whipped Up: Chocolate Smoothie

Food writer and photographer Jennifer Pallian took her background in nutrition as a professional recipe developer and turned it into the glorious , the blog where she shares the best of her seasonally inspired cuisine (her is a drool-worthy highlights reel). Below, her deceptively delicious chocolate smoothie that is packed with nothing but healthy goodness.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • ¼ cup large-flake oats
  • 2 frozen bananas, cut in thirds
  • 6 pitted dates
  • 3 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup skim milk powder (or 2–4 Tbs. nut butter of your choice)
  • Up to 1 cup of ice, optional

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients (except ice) to blender, and blend on high speed until very smooth, about 45 seconds.
  2. Add ice and blend again, if you prefer a colder or thicker smoothie.
  3. Serve immediately.
